read more about thisSPA/RAC maintains this Marine Mediterranean Invasive Alien Species Database (MAMIAS) in order to facilitate access to data relevant for the implementation of the Barcelona Convention’s Protocol concerning Specially Protected Areas and Biological Diversity in the Mediterranean (SPA/BD Protocol), and more particularly, the Action Plan concerning species introductions and invasive species in the Mediterranean Sea.
SPA/RAC will endeavour to keep this information system updated and data accurate through a participatory process and consultation with the Contracting Parties to Barcelona Convention. However, it should be understood that the information contained therein may not necessarily reflect all information made available to SPA/RAC, as some data and information may, of necessity, be preliminary in nature and must be submitted to a final review process.
This web application is developed in order to further enable the MAMIAS database, as an online platform for the collection, exploitation, and dissemination of information on marine biological invasions in the Mediterranean Sea, to support relevant regional and international policies.
SPA/RAC makes every effort to provide and maintain accurate, complete, useable, and timely information on the online database. However, these data and information are provided with the understanding that they are not guaranteed to be correct or complete. Indeed, this information is subject to change and should, in each case, be independently verified before reliance is placed on it. SPA/RAC does not warrant that the information on this online database will be complete or accurate or appropriate in all situations, and SPA/RAC excludes, to the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability to any person, corporation or other entity for any loss, damage, costs or expenses resulting from any reliance on or use of this database. The full version of MAMIAS data is solely made available to be used for purposes in connection with the objectives proclaimed by the Barcelona Convention and its SPA/BD Protocol. Commercial use of the results in any form is strictly prohibited. Should reference be made to the present database, the source should be clearly stated and SPA/RAC shall be informed.
It is our goal to minimize disruption caused by technical errors.
